Michael D. Watkins is a globally recognised expert on leadership transitions and organisational change. He is the author of the best-selling book The First 90 Days, hailed by The Economist as “the onboarding bible,” and named one of the top 100 business books of all time. A Professor of Leadership at IMD in Switzerland, Watkins has spent over two decades helping leaders navigate career transitions, build high-performing teams, and drive transformation. He co-founded Genesis Advisers, a consultancy supporting executives in critical leadership moments, and was inducted into the Thinkers50 Management Hall of Fame in 2023.
Watkins has authored 15 books and hundreds of articles on leadership, negotiation, and strategy. His latest book, The Six Disciplines of Strategic Thinking (2024), guides executives in leading for the long term. Previously, he taught at Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, and INSEAD.
